April 18 Release
Please watch the New Feature Screencast for a review of the updates in this release:
Limit Assignment Submission Attempts
Starting April 18, instructors may limit students to a specified number of an attempts for an assignment. Similar functionality has been available for Quizzes, and now Assignments may be “closed” after a set number of submissions.
Rubrics Now in Course Navigation
The Rubrics button has been moved to the Course Navigation menu:
The change intends to make workflow more intuitive and to access Rubrics more quickly. (Previously, the Manage Rubrics area was located in the Outcomes page, although outcomes are never required to use a rubric.)
Course Summary Visibility on Syllabus page
Instructors may now remove the Course Summary from the Syllabus page – that is, the list of Assignments that automatically generates on the Syllabus page when you add Assignments. Simply uncheck the “Show Course Summary” box from the Edit Syllabus screen, and the list of assignments will be removed.
This gives instructors more control over how and where their assignments are displayed. (From March 21 release)
The next Canvas production release will be available Saturday, May 16, with release notes available Monday, April 20.
